“I’m going to dump all my troubles right in your lap. Use my legal department. Use my everything. From now on your orders, to my persons, will be even superior to me. I’ve already instructed my staff accordingly. Come out to my house. Meet Al Quddūs Al Qāzī and Al Furqān Al Saåīd yourself. Solve the problem as you see fit. Then meet Ghausiyah bint Kħuwaylid and buy her off too.”
“When do you want to get married?”
“As soon as I can.”

With Shankar Mahāpralayankar and his party gone I strolled to the window aimlessly.
I stood there, staring meditatively, down in the street below.
Suddenly, I turned jerked open a drawer of my desk, and pulled out the binoculars.
I raised the window with my left hand, held the binoculars to my eyes, and leaned far out over the sill.
Kħadījah Muħammad calmly took a pencil, poised it over a notepad and waited.
I, my eyes glued to the binoculars, called out,

Kħadījah Muħammad’s pencil wrote the number on the notepad.
I lowered the binoculars and closed the window.
